the police是单数还是复数

the police指警察这个官方机构，是单数形式的复数名词，所以前面要用定冠词the，后面跟动词的复数形式。

police须用their等复数代词指代，可受these，most，several，many等表示不确切的量词修饰，也可受2以上基数词修饰，但不可用a或one修饰表示单个警察。
